Dharam Ji...The Epitome Of Greatness: Amitabh Bachchan Pens An Emotional Note For 'Veeru' Dharmendra

Dharmendra Death News: Fans, friends and followers of the veteran actor have been sharing moving tributes remembering the ‘He-man’ of Bollywood. Dharmendra breathed his last at the age of 89 on November 24. The cinema icon was laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Mumbai in the presence of close friends and family.

On his passing, Dharmendra's close friend and Sholay co-star Amitabh Bachchan took to his X (formerly Twitter) to pen an emotional note for him. The Paa star shared a heartfelt note remembering the ‘the epitome of  greatness’. The actor also stressed how Dharmendra remained unchanged despite working in the dynamic film industry, which ‘witnessed changes every decade’.

In his note, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “Another valiant Giant has left us ..  left the arena .. leaving behind a silence with an unbearable sound Dharam ji .. 🙏 🙏🙏.. the epitome of  greatness,  ever linked not only for his renowned physical presence, but for the largeness of his heart , and its most endearing simplicity.…he brought with him the earthiness of the village in Punjab he came from , and remained true to its temperament .. un soiled throughout his glorious career , in a fraternity that witnessed changes every decade..the fraternity underwent changes..not him..his smile, his charm and his warmth , extending to all that came in his vicinity .. a rarity in the profession…the air about us swings vacant. a vacuum that shall ever remain vacuus . Prayers.”

Amitabh Bachchan visited Dharmendra's residence when he was recovering after his discharge from Breach Candy Hopsital on November 14. The actor was also among the first celebrities who arrived at the funeral of Dharmendra, along with his son Abhishek Bachchan. The friendship of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra has sustained the test of time, lasting almost 50 years. The actors collectively came to be known as ‘Jai-Veeru’ following their appearance in Sholay.
