Mayawati Hits Back at Rahul Over 'Double Standards,' Calls Congress 'BJP's 'B team' in Delhi Polls

New Delhi: Mayawati, the Bahujan Samaj Party Chief on Friday continued the war of words with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi where she slammed him and the party over its "double standards." Mayawati in her post further called Congress BJPs' 'B Team' in the Delhi polls due to which the saffron party emerged victorious.

“It is a common discussion that this time Congress contested the Delhi Assembly elections as BJP’s B team, due to which BJP has come to power here. Otherwise, Congress’ condition would not have been so bad in this election that this party could not even save the deposit of most of its candidates,” Mayawati wrote in her post on X.

This development comes as Rahul who was on a two-day visit to Raebareli took a swipe at the BSP chief questioning the party's political approach.

Responding to this, Maywati launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi accusing the Congress of a "dual character and casteist mindset" towards the BSP supporters.

Further speaking on BJP forming the govt in the national capital she said, "Also, the new BJP government formed in Delhi has the challenge of fulfilling all the promises made during the elections, especially those related to public welfare and development, on time, otherwise the condition of this party may also become as bad as that of Congress in the future."

What Did Rahul Gandhi Said?

During his visit to Raebareli, Rahul while talking to students, Rahul said, "Ye toh kehna padega ki Kanshi ram ji ne neev rakhi aur Behenji ne kaam kiya, ye toh main bhi manta hoon. Magar ek sawaal hai mera, Behenji aajkal chunaav theek se kyun nahi lad rahi (I must say that Kanshi Ram ji laid the foundation and Behenji carried on the work. I also agree with this. But I have a question. Why is Behenji not fighting the elections properly these days?"

"Hum chahte the Behenji BJP ke virodh main hamare saath lade magar Mayawati ji kisi na kis karan nahi ladi. Hume toh kaafi dukh laga kyunki agar teeno party ek ho jaati toh BJP chunvaav kabhi nahi jeeti (We wanted Behenji to fight with us against BJP but Mayawati ji did not fight for some reason or the other. I felt very sad because if the three parties (including Samajwadi Party) had united, BJP would never have won the election)," he further added.

Hitting back at Rahul over his comments, Mayawati in a post said, "Wherever the Congress is strong or in power, it harbours hostility and casteist attitudes towards BSP and its followers. But in states like UP, where it is weak, it tries to mislead people by talking about an alliance with BSP. If this is not hypocrisy, then what is?"

Whenever BSP allied with Congress or other casteist parties, our base vote got transferred to them. But this was never reciprocated. As a result, BSP always suffered losses,” she added.
